Which was the first record you bought with your own money?

I remember the first tape i got, "Dangerous" by Michael Jackson.
I was -also today- a big fan of Michael, I first discovered the post-Quincy Jones years due to my age. I also have the souvenir that one of my uncles had the album "Bad" which I listened all the time, especially a less-knowed track (and always forgotten in the best of) which i considere as one of his greatests songs: "Speed Demon"

Which was the last record you bought with your own money?

I bought the last album of Sigur Rôs, but they don't have their keyboard player anymore. But you better have to listen their album "Valtari" which is a masterpiece for me."Fjögur píanó" et "Varúð"

What was the first solo you learned from a record — and can you still play it?

When i was at music school, i had to learn one solo and play it in class, which i never did. So i worked on Wes Montgomery's version of "Moanin'", it was a one-shot. I choose Wes because he had the best "time" sense in this old generation that I didn't know well. the only other solo I worked on is Allan Holdsworth's one on "Sixteen men of tain". I think Allan is absolutely great. Except this two examples, i never really loved working on solos from others.

Which recording of your own are you most proud of, and why?

On jouait à n'importe quelle heure.

The first disc I made with AERIS as a trio was recorded in a studio in the middle of nowhere where we used to sleep in and recorded night and day. We play at any hour. I think now that with this liberty came out from us out a lot of things on this record. I think this disc gave me the direction for the next ones. I'm also very proud of a record i made last year with great energy inside with my friend Cédric Thimon: DETRUIRE TOUS LES HUMAINS. And of course all the discs i made with Arthur (Narcy) and Elie (Dalibert) in SIDONY BOX- with a preference for the album "Pink Paradise", it was at a period which we had a lot of good things coming for us- it was really cool.

What's the difference between playing live and playing in a studio?

I don't see too much difference, i try to be the same musician both sides, you have to play at one moment, that's all. But i don't really like to play with headphones which make you loosing the "air" from sound, which can totally change your way of playing.

What's the difference between a good gig and a bad gig?

The bad gig is the one that you don't take on the music you play. The good one would be when you forget where you are, with this sensation that we have done something more than only music, that something unspeakable has come. I like the idea to not analyse it to continue to feel it.

What's the difference between a good guitar and a bad guitar?

New 8-strings guitar by Cyril Guérin (Albédo)

I think that a good guitar is the one with a good response and good vibration, when you feel its "body". I just made my own guitar with Cyril Guerin. We worked on a 8-strings guitar. It's a really good instrument.

You play electric and acoustic. Do you approach the two differently?

I think precisely that you don't have to make difference between those two, they are only instruments to be used in a room. Then, if you considere playing with pedals, it brings more elements to play with but they can as be used on electric as acoustic so no difference. The response of the instrument can be as different from an electric to another as an acoustic to an electric.

Do you sound more like yourself on acoustic or electric?

Idem, je ne fais pas de différence. C'est toujours moi qui joue.

Idem, I don't make difference too, it's me playing

Do you sound like yourself on other people's guitars?

I hope so. That's what Arthur (Narcy) told me once as we exchance our guitars with Jean-Jacques Becam, i take it as a compliment.

Which living artist (music, or other arts) would you like to collaborate with?

I hope playing one day with sax player Mike Lewis from Happy Apple and Fat Kids Wednesdays (and bass player for Bon Iver). We already used to do it with SIDONY BOX, we met him a few times but finally we didn't make it for timing reasons. He is a musician i loved to play with.

What dead artist (music, or other arts) would you like to have collaborated with?

Honnêtement je ne sais pas trop... Avec Michael Jackson tiens.

To be honest i don't know... Michael Jackson?

What's your latest project about ?

I'm working on a solo project improvised and acoustic. Thanx to my friend Sébastien Boisseau who indirectly gave me the "green light" to do it by playing with him in duet in all acoustic and improvised. But i'm also on lots of other projects, as the next SIDONY BOX that's going to be recorded live with Trombonist GIANLUCA PETRELLA as guest.
