Alternative names: Nguyet cam, Dan kim, Moon lute, Moon guitar
Origin: Vietnam
Tuning: There is no fixed tuning, but the 2 strings are usually tuned a fourth or fifth apart.

Further notes: Nylon or silk strings or fishing line.
Scale Length: 720-750mm



Dangubica


Alternative names: Samica, Kuterevka
Origin: Balkan mountains, South-eastern Euope.
Tuning: No Standard tuning but fouths or fifths between the two courses are common. Considered a folk instrument.
Strings/Courses: 2/2, 4/2 or 4/4
Further notes: Loosely translated, the word dangubica means "to lose the day". Steel strings.

Origin: Northern Vietnam
Tuning: No standard.

Dan Ty Ba


Alternative names:
Origin: Vietnam. Evolved from the Chinese Pipa.
Tuning: No fixed pitch, but the strings are tuned in intervals of a fourth, a second and then a fourth.

Alternative names: Dadihu, Dahu, Ziaodihu, Zhongdihu.
Origin: China, 1930's.

Origin: Northern India, 1800's.
Tuning: No absolute pitch, but the strings are tuned to set intervals depending on the ragas being played.

Dulcimer (Appalachian/Mountain)

Further notes: Not to be confused with the hammered Dulcimer. Steel strings.
